LESLIE REESE BROWN
OIL PAINTINGS
I was raised in a family of artists. My parents met at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia. Our family moved to Savannah, Georgia where I was born and where my father directed the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences. After many years, we were on to Orlando, where he directed what became the Orlando Art Museum. Although my formative years were in the South (which I love to paint) I lived for many years in Vermont before moving to Colorado in 1989.
I was brought up in an environment that was highly visually oriented, as one would expect. After a lifetime of being encouraged to see color, shape, and movement in the world around me, I put paint to canvas for the first time four years ago. I feel as though I had been painting in my mind’s eye for many years before I actually started painting! I now paint in my barn studio in Boulder, Colorado.
